Manaaki at the age of 238 days old and the day before he fledges for his long journey across the oceans. He is one of many that is raised on the south end of New Zealand where the Northern Royal Albatross have traditionally used to raise their chicks. This one is the featured Albatross on the Royal Albatross Camera for 2023. Here he is preparing to fledge, checking his wings, studying the horizon and the winds before leaving.Their wing spans are 3 meters wide!

Cynthia Sorensen has been an artist and a ballet dancer for the past 25 years. She has shown her paintings in numerous art galleries and interior design stores throughout the Los Angeles and Ventura County areas of Southern California. She has had many one-person art shows and has been a member of various artists' associations. She has also donated paintings to many charitable fund-raising events, including The Boys & Girls Club, AIDS and ballet company auctions. Cynthia has first-hand knowledge of the ballet world through her own dancing which is the inspiration for her ballet art work.
