Description
Sky, Ahote and Kana’Kani, the three Bald Eaglet siblings from the West End Bald Eagle Nest Cam on Catalina Island, California in May, 2022. The view is of the west point of Catalina with the tor (a rocky peak or hill) in the background where the parents of these three, Thunder, mom, and Akechetka, dad, like to perch. This was painted as a commission for Leslie Gosling Abraham, who adopted the nest and named the eaglet Sky. The nest is maintained by the Institute for Wildlife Studies (IWS). IWS is responsible for the recovery of the Bald Eagles on the Channel Islands and Catalina. Dr. Peter Sharpe is the head of the program and is the hero who rescued Ahote when he fell off the side of the nest. He does endless work in the recovery of bald eagles. And thank you to explore.org for posting the cameras online. Watercolor 16 x 20. #fraserpointnest #instituteforwildlifestudies #watercoloronpaper #exploreorg
